Eric Stephens, DAOM, L. Ac.

I have been in the professional practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine for over 30 years. It is my pleasure to work with people to enable them to feel their best. I started studying in this field in the mid 1970s and have continued to study and develop my abilities to treat a wide variety of conditions with many different techniques. I have long been involved in the teaching and training of other professionals and I co-founded the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 1983. Most recently I was in the first cohort of people to earn the first accredited doctorate in the field, the Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree, in 2005. And I am currently just finishing a year long certificate program in Sports Medicine Acupuncture.

Specialties

I specialize in the treatment of pain, my doctorate specialty was in this field. Helping people with muscle and joint pain coming from accidents, sports injuries, or wear and tear is a special interest of mine. I am also known for helping people with headaches, inflammatory pain from arthritis or immune disorders, or nerve pain such as sciatica or tri-geminal neuralgia.

I am also very interested in the field of women's health and have helped many women with menstrual concerns, menopausal issues, or fertility support.

Various other types of organ dysfunction are also well treated. These include digestive concerns, respiratory problems, skin problems, and many others. And many people find relief for sleep disorders.

Background

After completed my undergraduate degree with a major in psychology I went into the field of acupuncture and Oriental medicine, both studying and teaching and helping formulate the national organizations in the field.

I hold state licenses to practice in Oregon and California and I am a Diplomate of the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in both Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. I have also been involved in designing and conducting research studies on acupuncture and Oriental medicine.

And in the last several years I have become more and more interested in paleo dietary principles and have seen the benefits for both me personally as well as for my patients.
