John Spence, D.C.
I have had a family and wellness based chiropractic practice in upstate New York for over 25 years. I practice and reside in Clifton Park, NY, which is about 15 miles north of Albany. My wife and I have two beautiful, healthy and active children (ages 14 and 16).
The study of nutrition and assisting people in finding the right diet for them and their family is also a key component to my practice.
I have always had an immense respect for the innate ability for the human body to heal and maintain high levels of health. The type of chiropractic I practice allows me to gently and effectively restore a person's process of healing when it is interfered with.
The food choices common in the American diet is a source of stress to the intestinal tract, the immune system and the brain and nervous system. Of highest importance in determining the best diet for a person, I place a high priority on foods that are nutrient dense, are easy for the body to digest and cause little irritation to the intestinal tract and immune system. In my study of diet I have found the principles of a Paleo template diet along with foods found in many traditional cultures from around the world as promoted by the Weston A. Price foundation to be a good starting point to determine what is best for each individual or family. It is clear to me that genetically we have specific nutritional requirements that must be met in order for us to achieve our health and healing potential. Personally, since following the principles of these diets, I have lost weight and feel stronger and healthier. I have also seen improvements for my patients with weight loss, reduced pain symptoms and improved digestive disturbances. This is why I believe that teaching people these principles of food choices, along with reducing stresses and interference to the nervous system with chiropractic will allow a person to reach their greatest health and healing potential.
