While attending NCNM, Dr. Axelrod was selected for competitive, year-long mentorships in women's health and cardiology. After graduation from medical school, she continued at NCNM for two additional years of rigorous residency training in family medicine, working under the tutelage of many accomplished physicians. In these two years and working at various offices throughout Portland, Dr. Axelrod gained extensive experience treating a wide range of conditions in both men and women, with an ultimate goal of restoring balance to the body. She has much experience in treating hormonal imbalances, autoimmune conditions, digestive disorders, high blood sugar, mood issues, fatigue, and allergies (food, seasonal). Treatment plans typically contain a combination of herbal medicine, homeopathy, nutrition, bio-identical hormones or the judicial use of prescription medications.

During her second year of residency, Dr. Axelrod worked side-by-side with Dr. Tori Hudson, nationally known expert, author, and speaker in naturopathic women’s health and bio-identical hormone management. This year of training confirmed Dr. Axelrod’s interest and passion for treating hormone imbalances in women of all ages. Common conditions that she treats include thyroid conditions such as hypothyroid and Hashimoto’s, PMS (breast tenderness, acne, irritability), peri-menopausal symptoms (hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, low libido), irregular menstrual cycles, PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and infertility/reproductive health.
