Carrie Mayes, D.C.

Read my "Paleo" biography at About Carrie Mayes D.C. on www.paleowisdom.com. My professional biography can be read at: http://www.mayeschiropractic.com/?i=about_us.

Specialties

I welcome patients of all ages who are interested in being their best and healthiest selves. That being said, because of my background, I have a great appreciation for athletes of all levels and ages. I also have post graduate study in pediatric chiropractic. My latest and growing area of special interest is in Paleo/Primal/Hunter-Gatherer ways of eating and living.

Background

My general background can be found in my biography. My background with Paleo ways of being doesn't go back quite so far. I "ran into" Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint in July of 2010 and I realized that I was onto something of great value for myself and others. Since then, I've read Robb Wolf's Paleo Solution, Loren Cordain's The Paleo Diet and Gary Taubes Why We Get Fat and What to do About It, among others. In addition, I've listened to hours and hours of Rob Wolf's Paleo Solution podcasts, many hours of podcasts with Chris Kresser, and many Paleo Talk podcasts with Chrissy Gower and Sarah Fragoso. And, not insignificantly, I have been eating primarily Paleo/Primal since August of 2010, with regular 30 day "Pure Paleo" stints thrown in. My belief is that we should actually get healthier as we age and that the conventional interpretations of science and medicine are leading us in the wrong direction. Everything I am hearing and reading about a Paleo/Primal way of living makes the words "health" and "aging" more and more compatible.
