Dusty Hurd, DPT
Dusty holds Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of New England and is a licensed physical therapist in the state of Maine. He practices at Orthopedic Associates Physical Therapy and remains remains active with the University of New England as adjunct faculty assisting with musculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary courses.
Dusty is a USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach and a certified CrossFit level 1 instructor and trains athletes in these concepts both in and out of OAPT. He has conducted research concerning lower extremity flexibility in mixed martial artists and has a particular interest in rehabilitation of surfers, skiers and mixed martial artists. He works with a variety of patients primarally which typically have orthopedic or sports related injuries.
Dusty believes strongly in the benefits of the Paleo diet and evolutionary fitness. He has consistantly seen positive results during the rehabilitation of atheltes and non-athletes when adopting the diet. The change in strength, energy, physical capacity and physique of his patients after adopting a paleo diet is inspiring. Dusty surfs year-round in Maine, and also enjoys mountain biking, trail running, hiking, sailing, skiing and mixed martial arts. Dusty grew up in central California prior to completing his undergraduate schooling in Hawaii. He currently resides in Yarmouth, with his wife and two sons.
