Laleh Shaban MD.

Dr. Laleh Shaban grew up in Iran and moved to the United States in 1977 where she attended La Jolla High School and the University of California San Diego (UCSD) undergraduate program. She also studied abroad at the UTESA School of Medicine in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Dr. Shaban graduated with honors and returned to the United States. She obtained her U.S. citizenship and completed her residency program in internal medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
In 1997 she and her husband returned to the California Central Coast where her husband was born and raised, so they could be closer to family and raise their children in this unique environment. Dr. Shaban started her private practice in January 1999 in both Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo and soon she had over 4,000 patients in her solo practice.

Background

Approximately seven years ago she realized that the conventional medical system was “flawed.” It was then that she introduced the “Concierge Practice” and eliminated insurance interference all together. This started her Personal Access Program. She believes providing internal medicine and primary care services to a smaller group of patients, allows a higher standard of care. She has found this practice to be most beneficial for her patients. With this change, she has also pursued additional areas of interest; skin care, Anti-Aging Medicine and Gerontology. She is now switching her practice toward a Evidenced-based/Functional Medicine practice instead of a typical pharm-centric medical practice. She highly recommends adopting the Paleo-type foods for her patients, and has seen remarkable health improvements in her own patients.
